A Legacy Resurrected

Kennedy High School (JFK). The famous local high school closed following the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina, but 13 years later it has found a new home in the Gentilly neighborhood.
Sheridan Lake Area New Tech Early College High School will become John F. Kennedy High School at Lake Area on July 1, 2018. The Spears creative team was tasked with creating JFK’s new look while honoring the school’s rich and enduring legacy. The team ensured the new brand captured the spirit of the high school as well as evoked modern and innovative brand elements.
John F. Kennedy High School was well-known and highly revered for its outstanding academics, marching band, athletic programs, alumni base, and more before it closed. As a result, the brand had to exude those characteristics and capture the attention of the school’s key stakeholders. The Spears team exceeded the expectations of NBSF leadership and JFK alumni. When the brand was unveiled to the public via social media, the response was overwhelming. NBSF received countless social media impressions; additional page likes and overall positive sentiments from the public and the media. Stories regarding the school’s return were shared across various media platforms including the city’s ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS affiliates as well as a Letter to Editor in The Times Picayune/Nola.com.
Due to the success of the initial brand deployment, NBSF has retained the Spears Group for the Phase 2 execution of the high school’s marketing and branding initiatives.
Way to go Team Spears!
